Once there was a little crab
Red and small and scampering
Starved, he hadn’t eaten for days
His stomach needed pampering
Its rumbles rivaled the ocean’s roar
And the pangs of hunger he felt galore
His energy waning, he could walk no more
But there, in the distance, splayed on the shore
The head of a fish, so dead and white
A fresh and most delicious delight
Seaweed wrapped ’round, a sandwich so yummy
Faster he ran, he must fill his tummy!
But before he could get there, much to his chargrill
It was gulped whole by a pelican’s bill!
The poor crab sat down to have a good cry
No food in his stomach, he lay down to die
When an apple core landed right by his eye!
He stood up and tasted– it was to his liking
He ate all his fill and then started hiking
His stomach was full, starvation was skirted
The space in his tummy no longer deserted
But one day, one place, someday, or somehow
On a fish sandwich, he’d sure love to chow
